Based on 『Seoull becomes a novel one day』 and 『Seoul. night strollers』 and texts, the purpose of this study is to find out through which method a daily sense of place and a relative sense of space combine together at a local horizon ane how they affect interaction, and to find out which locality is produced as a result.
The two novels, while emphasizing Seoul, a daily space, as a modern and urban space, while taking a double attitude such as adaption and denial, The reason that Seoul is exclusively reproducing modernity and urbanity is that two texts progress based on a neoliberal structure in which ‘difference’ covelts into ‘exclusiveness.’ The only way for novels with regular interest in a relative sense of space to recognize and reproduce locals other than Seoul is through a knowledge system. Novels that deal with Seoul’s relative sense of space cites and imitates a conventional knowledge system, while executing a modification by targeting this knowledge system at the same time.
The ultimate double attitude reproduced by these two texts is associated with a method connecting both place and space. Such double attitude acknowlcdges a clearly existing contradiction between idealistic dialectic that integrates modern order and the non-identity that can disintegrate a conventional knowledge system by producing and extracting an non-identity within a long-held tradition of recognizing Seoul and regional area as an identity and within a knowledge system. This attempt refers to coexistence of negative dialectic aimed to build a new knowledge system.
