Elementary school textbooks contain a number of historical people to help young students learn lessons. These texts of historical people are of various types and are widespread in elementary school textbooks. I focused on Korean textbooks from the 1st educational curriculum to the 7th educational curriculum. The results are as follows:
First, I researched these texts and sorted them according to periods, grades and types. The trends of selecting historical people has affected the ideals of education, grade and the form of the story.
Second, I noticed the change of learning contents to the historical peoples education. In the 7th educational curriculum, selection of historical people was decreased. The key factor is that the view of language education has changed. The 7th educational curriculum emphasized the use of language.
I realized that these materials of historical people have changed and been influenced for the purpose of education, the times, circumstances and the views of the language education.
