    In this paper we propose a very fast measuring system for the location and orientation of a mobile robot in an indoor environment. The system is designed for a robot that utilizes ultrasonic and RF module signals simultaneously for the localization method. The location and orientation of a robot are computed by measuring its distance from three receivers and measuring magnetic compass, respectively. The system was implemented and tested on a mobile robot in a structured environment. The robot used for experimentation is a wheeled moving platform equipped with the transmitter, which is mounted on the mobile robot, transmits both ultrasonic and RF module signals at the same time; the receivers, which are located at fixed points in the ceiling of the room use the received RF signal as a trigger to measure the time of flight of ultrasonic signal.
