The purpose of this study is to suggest practical methods to foster and support the resident participation cultural activities in Gyeongnam Province. For this purpose, the study reviews the importance of the resident participation cultural activities first, and then, examines current situations related to the resident participation cultural activities and various examples in nation and other countries to get useful information. The study also examines current situation related in Gyeongnam Province and finds practical methods to activate the resident participation cultural activities in the province.
These practical methods are suggested by five strategies. These are as follows; the development and support of various action programs related to the resident participation cultural activities, the assistance to local cultural communities, expansion and improvement of cultural facilities, establishment of supporting systems for the resident participation cultural activities, and extension of resident cultural education. Under these strategies, more detailed action methods are suggested to foster and assist the resident participation cultural
activities in the province.
