We propose a new Wet Chemical Self-Assembling Approach to form dense arrays of immobilized Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWNTs) on gold substrate. The long and randomly tangled SWNTs were chemically modified by cutting into short pipes through acid treatment where SWNTs end are terminated by Carboxyl functionalities. A semi-stable ester was formed with the aid of linker N-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-N′-ethylcarbidiimide hydrochloride (EDC HCL). The semi stable ester, formed a stable amide bond with the thiol modified gold substrate. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) results show densely packed SWNTs formation on gold substrate. We believe that assembled SWNTs arrays will open up the opportunity of wide range of application in capacitive and bio-sensor field.
