This paper categorizes Korean history researches carried out from 2010 and 2011 on the Japanese Colonial Period. Literary, scholarly and (popular) cultural researches decreased from 30% in 2008-2009 to 23%, while national liberalization accounted for around 17%. In the 100<sup>th</sup> year of forced annexation by Japan, a series of seminars were organized to discuss the annexation process and its illegitimacy, nature of the Japanese Government-general of Joseon, and assessment of the colonial rule. With new attempts made to overcome conventional historical framework, historical awareness and research history have been actively explored, along with studies on Koreans living overseas (e.g. Manchuria, Northern China). Growing discussion on colonial modernity generated more researches on local regions and cities, with a significant growth in social history studies focusing on history of people from a new perspective.
It should be noted that new perspectives and methodologies began to consolidate arguments based on empirical researches, as was the case with colonial publicness, new history of people, transnational history and history of concepts. Most importantly, the biggest achievement in this field should be that the stream of new perspectives contributed to breaking boundaries in the conventional historical studies and criss-crossing different disciplines, generating a wider spectrum of historical views.
