The Yuefu Compilation written by Duan Anjie involves notes of music system, instruments, melodies, dance performances, the origin of Chinese drama, and some anecdotes of famous musicians and artists, which show a precious value of reference in both musicology researches and literature studies. Base on the existing 38 records, The Series compiled by Wang Wuyun and The grand compendium of Chinese Ancient Drama Treatises made some supplements, but some records can yet be found in the quotations of other books. Now 12 more notes are newly collected and an textual research is being executed.
