This study aims to examine the role of the Christian religion during the Japanese aggression of Asia, by researching the early missionary work of the Nippon Sei Ko Kai. Especially, it deals with the stand of the Nippon Sei Ko Kai during the turbulent period, focusing on the opinion of Imai Toshimichi who had the greatest influence among those clergymen. And it examines his pro-war thought, political standpoint, and missionary activity by inspecting closely christ monthly magazin, Kirisutokyo Shuho(『日曜叢誌』) in which he was the chief editor.
