The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of decisional balance and
ego-resiliency on the change stages of exercise behavior in high school girls, and then estimate whether these psychological factors work on change stages of exercise behavior as discriminating variables.
232 high school girls participated for the study, those filled out the questionnaires. The questionnaires including general characteristics of subjects, change stages of exercise behavior model, decisional balance and ego-resiliency are used as an investment tool for study. Statistical analysis was done using descriptive statistic for subjects’ general characteristics, ANOVA for differences of decisional balance and ego-resiliency on exercise scale from collected data with SPSS 15.0. Statistical significance was set at the level of p<.05.
As a result, 1) exercise benefit of decisional balance was difference depending on high school girls’ change stages of exercise behavior significantly. 2) ego-resiliency for exercise scale was different depending on high school girls’ change stages of exercise behavior significantly. 3) ego-resiliency was contributed to the estimation for high school girls’ change stages of exercise behavior. Especially confidence in self and future among ego-resiliency categories had a huge impact on discrimination of it.
In conclusion ego-resiliency showed positive relation to estimation for high school girls’ change stages of exercise behavior. That is to say exercise participation of high school girls’ can help affirmative working to her health and school life. In addition to that, ego-resiliency will have influences on them.
