There was an accident in landing an aircraft. The steering link was departed from the steering system and the connecting bolt was fractured. At the same time, the FLIR(Forward Looking Infrared Radar) that was mounted in front of the steering link was also fractured. At the beginning of this investigation we understood the order of this accident was that the FLIR had been fractured first and then the FLIR stroke the steering link and finally the bolt was fractured.
The fractured section of the bolt shows a beach mark and a dimple mark as well. The outside of the bolt shows a large deformation by a heavy load. We finally found what the cause of the heavy load and the order of the fractures for bolt, link and FLIR etc.
