For the last several decades, creation scientists argued that the old earth model is a kind of compromise with evolutionary theory, because long age can give a time for evolution. This paper deals with the relationship between the old earth creationism and the evolution of life. Though rough and simplified, calculations show that the probability for spontaneous generation of life by random process is extremely small. Even the long age of the universe is far less time for separating L-type from D-type amino acid molecules and generating a single protein molecule. The author argues that both 6000 and 14 billion years are similarly considered too much young to produce a single cell and the old earth model is not connected to organic evolution at all.
