This study aimed to compare the relationship between Korean English pre-service teachers" acquired knowledge of English teaching methodology and its application to their Teaching English in English (TEE) class. Fifty-nine pre-service teachers in a university in Seoul participated in this study. A final exam was administered to check their understanding of English teaching methodology, and their microteaching was video-taped to evaluate their performance for TEE. Pre-developed rubric was used to evaluate pre-service teachers" TEE performance, the possible measurement error of which was controlled by the Item Response Theory. Furthermore, in order to observe any potential influences of related background variables other than their acquired knowledge on their TEE performance, multiple regression analysis was conducted. The results suggest that the acquired knowledge of teaching methodology had significant relationships with the performance for warm-up/wrap-up and the performance for using teaching methods, and the participants’ extraversion had a mild significant relationship with the performance for using classroom English. The detailed results and discussions of this study will provide further insight for English teachers and assist in developing teacher training programs.
