The purposes of this study were to investigate the current state of the traditional clothing industry and search for ways to identify the areas with potential for industrial development.
The analysis of the traditional clothing industry and market led to the investigation into its current state. The traditional clothing industry has sought after its developmental directions since the 2000s. The Hanbok designers have entered the international stage for the popularization and globalization of Hanbok. Attempts have been made to modernize traditional clothing and develop various products related to traditional clothing.
The traditional culture industry and market seem to be in the growth stage with the possibility of expanded marketability. Practitioners today in the traditional clothing business, however, face difficulties due to the poor production environment and reduced demand market. The market has remained stagnant due to the lack of laws and support systems for traditional clothing, which has resulted in problems with the supply and demand of the concerned workforce. In addition, low quality products of traditional clothing are often sold due to lack of design verification and contribute to the bad images of traditional cultural goods.
With the increasing interest in tradition, however, the expansion possibilities of the traditional clothing industry and market will be immense in future. Future study needs to examine the current state of the traditional clothing industry and market by sector and investigate the research plans to vitalize the traditional clothing industry and market by delving into cultivation policies.
