For universal access human interfaces, Japanese sign language is animated by computer graphics. Japanese finger alphabet, sign language words, and sentence patterns were made and stored in database as parts used to construct computer graphics animation of sign language. These manual configurations are described mainly in joint angle degrees of arms’ and fingers’ bending and twisting. They are also described as standardized format such as H-Anim or MPEG-4 body definition parameters, to be used for communication systems over the net. In the current system, pre-rendered computer graphics images are selected and displayed onto screen in real-time. Arm trajectories within words or phrases are smoothly interpolated using nonlinear techniques but they are concatenated with pre-rendered padding transitional images between words.
