While social awareness about disabilities changes, the number of students with disabilities studying in general classroom is increasing. But the classroom environment for students with disabilities was made uncomfortable. This study evaluated the special classroom and general classroom in point of universal design. Due to the fact that Students are spend a lot of time in classroom. This study was carried out by the observing.
It focused on 18 universal design related items which consisted of 6 principles; accessibility, supportiveness, adaptiveness, safety, equality and sociality. The subjects of were 4 elementary schools which gave positive responses for walking through their classroom. Findings were as follows; 1) General classroom was evaluated good accessibility, supportiveness. 2) Special classroom was evaluated good safety, but accessibility was bad. 3) Integrated education to be realized, First of all, the special classroom is place in first floor closely main entrance. 4) Not just using an expensive material in classroom, we should be design the classroom floor plan in point of universal design including accept diversity. Finally the clear standards will be prepared considering those.
