The DS-CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) system capacity can be expressed as a function of such parameters as required Eb/No, voice activity factor, sectorization, standard deviation of received SIR(signal to interference ratio), processing gain(G=W/R), frequency reuse factor, system reliability, etc. The sensitivity of respective parameters on the DS-CDMA system capacity affords a proper measure to design the system, hence, has been studied mainly based on the simulation. This paper propose an analytic method to derive the sensitivity. We derive the sensitivity of the system parameters and furthermore investigate the effect of system capacity parameters on the DS-CDMA system capacity in conjunction with an IS-95 type system and the effective range of parameters. As a result, the system reliability shows a significant sensitivity among these system parameters, but the system design spec confines this parameter range. Therefore, methods either to reduce the SIR standard deviation or to increase the sectorization factor can be proposed for system capacity increase. Processing gain and required Eb/No affect the system capacity in the trade-off relation with system resources.
