The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial characteristics in the informal structure in which the exterior related inside space with the use of space syntax among Gehry’s unique museum work. As analyze tool space syntax is work out spatial configuration data quantitatively through visual connection and physical access.
I analyzed three of Frank Gary’s dynamic and atypical museums built between 1980 to 90. Through compare and contrast of space structure between atypical and typical museums built during that time period, I plan to present basic data for designers preparing atypical construction in the future.
Integration value, connectivity, and intelligibility variables will be used in this study to analyze the space structure. The difference between atypical and typical museums will also be analyzed in accordance to whether the presence of center space leads to general or more specific category will also be analyzed.
