This study was implemented targeting 32 adults residing D metropolitan city by dividing groups of more than 10 years anaerobic exercise (A group athletes), and more than 10 years aerobic exercise group (B group athletes), and athlete group with non-anaerobic exercise, non-aerobic exercise(C group = control group), by which left, right carotid artery thickness/left, right carotid artery Maximal blood velocities/ left, right carotid artery minimal blood velocities were compared.
The following result could be obtained from the analysis concerning the carotid artery thickness, & the blood velocities.
1) Left/Right Carotid Artery Thickness comparison
Indicated a significance difference between groups and A group showed higher compare to B, C groups.
2) Left/Right Carotid Artery Maximum Blood Flow Velocities comparison NO difference indicated between groups.
3) Left/Right Carotid Artery Minimal Blood Flow Velocities comparison NO difference indicated between groups.
The long-term analysis of carotid artery intima-media thickness and blood flow of male leaders of different exercise types shows that the intima-media of anaerobic exercise leaders is thicker than that of aerobic exercise leaders or non-exercise leaders although it still remains in a normal range. As a result, resistance training may be dangerous to those who have performed resistance exercise for a long period of time. On this base, cardiovascular health, new exercise program and proper exercise level for resistance exercise performers and non-exercise leaders should be studied in the near future.
