The purpose of this study was to discuss characteristics and educational meanings of team teaching as a collaborative teaching method in school physical education. In this paper, it was emphasized to give much attention on teacher collaboration in teaching context as well as student learning in learning context. In fact, in terms of essence and characteristic of physical education as a subject is the most appropriate subject matter among all subject matters at schools. To date, little attention was given to team teaching among scholars and professors in physical education community. Its main cause was lack of knowledge and experience of team teaching in school physical education society. Thus, this paper has tried to first introduce historical backgrounds of team teaching, and then to explain characteristics of team teaching comparing to other similar terminology(e.g., peer teaching or co-teaching). Finally, this paper has explored educational meanings of team teaching regarding two dimensions such as physical education teachers and students. Finally, it is recognized that team teaching as a collaborative teaching method in physical education is mostly beneficial for teachers and students.
