Kwak Yim-Dae started independence movement in the Korean National Association from April, 1914. His activities can be arranged in two ways. First, he devoted in national education for Korean in America. Especially, he emphasized Korean education and military education. He tried to edify national awareness for Korean students by national education. He actively engaged in the Central Committee of the Korean National Association. He thought that the Central Committee should have every authority including finance management as an umbrella body of the Regional Committees, and the Central Committee should supervise independence movement in America. However, it was very difficult to overcome the high wall of the Regional Committees.
Kwak Yim-Dae was very disappointed because the established Korean organizations were likely to become conservative. So he wanted to establish new organization. In that time, he worked in North America Branch of the Korean National Revolutionary Party. In this party, he distrusted the Korean Independence Party and pursed armed struggle against Japan because he realized keenly the limit of independence movement focusing diplomacy. He thought that the independence movement by diplomacy was a daydream. The only way to achieve independence of Korea was war against Japan for him. So he thought that members of the Korean National Revolutionary Party should actively participate in activity of the Provisional Government to make progress for armed struggle against Japan.
