There are several ways to search the possibilities of the educational facilities for children. First of all, the most important direction will be set according to how we look at the possibility depending on which side. What we are looking for is the possibilities of social context when we premise children’s education facilities as urban infrastructure as well as educational environment.
Children’s educational facilities are the first public space reached to through the time of cradle from a space of mother’s bosom which is the space of privacy and mildness. Children are getting all things in one collective space with series of personal experiences before coming to this place. This space would influence children who are abiding here, and they will make future community.
But our situation is stuffy in relation to these issues. In each household, parents are showing sincerities and interests to their children which are somethings like family egoism. On the other hand, the specific gravity of children’s educational facilities in the community is just insignificant.
This kind of phenomenon is originated from the interests and attitudes about the whole public facilities which are not limited to the children’s educational facilities. Besides, children’s educational facilities in Korea which are not admitted in its entirely to the public educational system are like a little boat floating on the boundless expanse of the sea.
It was a stroke of good luck in meeting an owner of the building. He had enthusiasm about the education of children and had an aim to build with facility investment of a large size. The building is a kindergarten in the city of Anyang. This kindergarten was one which had been operated in Anyang over 10 years. With the redevelopment around this, it was designed by way of as a substitute at a distance of one kilometer away from that.
The urban fabric was changed entirely after the construction of high-rise dwelling complex of over 20 stories was completed in the existing area with the elaborate detached housings.
I wanted to restore the neighborhood organizations around the existing kindergarten, which has high-ground connection characteristics through the kindergarten project which was moved to a place in the state that everything has changed In a few words, I had a agony about the method how a small building like kindergarten takes a role as a member of the community
