Biofuel has become one of the most fascinating items and is an extremely important alternative for resource ever since the shortage of fossil fuels. The Volatile Fatty Acid(VFA) platform, being one of many methods applied from biomass, can synthesize mixed alcohol to use VFA such as acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid. VFA that has been anaerobically digested can synthesize mixed alcohol. Catalyst is deactivated in the acidic environment Thus, esterification and hydrogenolysis is used, respectively for deactivation of catalyst. By using hydrogenolysis, we can make mixed alcohol from mixed ester compound. In hydrogenolysis reaction, catalyst plays an important factor, and Cu-based catalyst usually plays the role in this reaction and is the favored catalyst.
Agriculture byproducts are potential raw materials to serve as abundant, clean and low cost feedstock for biobased products such as various polyols, biofuels, fermentable sugars and so on. Due to the growing demands of environment-friendly products, the production of polyol using agricultural byproduct is essential. In this study, we measure the optimum conditions of concentration (Sodium hydroxide 1~5%, v/v), temperature (70~150℃) and reaction time (30~150min) to produce glucose, xylose and arabinose by alkali hydrolysis method. In the previous study, many kinds of agricultural byproducts (corn stover, rice straw, cassva) were examined their sugar composition was analyzed by NREL method. The results showed that corn stover was chosen as the best suitable material among them. Under low alkali concentration (2%), short time (90 min) and high temperature (130℃) glucose and xylose yields from corn stover was co ... 전체 초록 보기
