While we are entering the aging society, demands of silver town with dwelling facilities, recreational facilities and medical facilities are increased. Also, unlike the past, health and leisure of the aged are emphasized and those leisure facilities are increased in silver town of modern times.
The purposes of this research are to analyze problems of common space"s color of urban silver town for the aged and suggest improvements of common space"s color plan of facilities for the aged by them. Floor, wall, ceiling, baseboard, handrail, sign material, etc. were measured for common spaces, lobby, corridor, restaurant, multipurpose room and library. Measured value was converted to RGB color with Chooser3.0 of Pantone and it was recorded by Munsell value by using Munsell Conversion.
As the results of research, proper color plan is conducted by spatial purposes in common space of silver town and there was few cold colors the aged cannot recognize while warm colors were generally used. And, boundary among the strings is appeared well, so it was analyzed positively. But, most of facilities showed uniformed color plan. Therefore, studies on the alternatives improving various colors and cognitive ability by considering characteristics of the aged should be necessary.
