This paper is to carefully examine the expressions of sentences in Scientific Research Paper, and to come up with possible alternatives. This manuscript examined 83 different research papers which Professors of cross curricula wrote, and found many errors. Following is a summary of the errors.
First of all, the Scientific Research Paper use too much of English. The author’s name, association, requisition date, sub titles, the title, tables, and figures and so on are all written in English. Being mixed with Korean writings, the papers’ national identity is uncertain. Consequently, the studies’ communication is absent. This impacts not only the relevant studies but also the irrelevant studies to hamper its development.
Secondly, the Scientific Research Paper carried inappropriate words that deliver unclear or inefficient sentences. This was caused by incorrect and inefficient words choice.
Thirdly, inefficient grammar was found very often. This is a crucial problem in expression of sentences, where adverbs or subjects were replaced by adnominal phrases. Absence of predicates and subjects or incorrect arrangements of them resulted as an incorrect grammar and an expression. Interestingly, too many researches were omitted causing enumeration of words in questionable sentences.
Fourthly, the division of sentences was not done properly. Looking at the contexts before and after, sentences that were to be separated into two were merged as one, or the other way around. This was caused by misinterpretation of the fundamental concept of sentences.
Fifthly, the incorrect uses of sentence connecting endings made the whole sentence awkward. Sentence connecting ends make two sentences to have a consistency in meaning, and if not used correctly, the sentences differ in contexts. This problem results from not fully understanding the contexts the sentences carry but simply ordering the proposition with lack of sentence writing skill.
Alternative measures to solve the errors mentioned vary. However, considering the fact that the Scientific Research Papers are still in writing, benchmarking the well written thesis would be one of the solutions from a short-term perspective.
Secondly, implementing a sentence writing curriculum for students would be a good solution from a long-term perspective. Considering that the students have the basis knowledge of Korean literary, educating not only writing a sentence but on understanding the correlation sentences and developing the consistent topics is also highly needed.
Thirdly, the scientific academic writing corporations should modify the papers submission process and the current evaluation policies. Therefore, the writer is led to carry the Korean literature ethics and proper writings.
Fourthly, supervision under “Korean Language Specialized Institution” before contributing the paper could be a good measure. In fact, foreign SCI papers are ordered to carry an authentication that the paper was edited by professionally specialized institutions.
