The main purpose of this paper is the understanding about the rituals in Korean Catholicism. I think the Mass and the seven sacraments are the most essential rituals in Korean Catholicism. In addition to this rituals, there are the vows of monks (brothers) and nuns (sisters) and the funeral in Korean Catholicism. There are called the sacramentalia in Catholicism.
In this paper these rituals have been divided into three types ; sacrifice, rites of passage, and salvation rites. The mass is the sacrifice. The rites of passage are the sacrament of baptism, the sacrament of confirmation, the sacrament of matrimony, the sacrament of Holy Orders, the vows of monks (brothers) and nuns (sisters), and the funeral. There are the sacrament of penance, the sacrament of the anointing of the sick and the sacrament of baptism in salvation rites.
The going to mass is the obligation of the Catholics. The break of this obligation is the mortal sin in Korean Catholicism. The Catholics feel the sense of belonging and the identity of the Catholic. Meanwhile, the Mass is the center of the rituals in Korean Catholicism. Or the it is in close connection with them. And finally, the rituals of the Korean Catholicism have the standard patterns.
