The Kim Chun-soo"s poems in the middle stage show a certain change and continuance of the early ones. In the mid. stage, the sorrow of poet caused by the splitting and limits of human beings is deeply and delicately varied by selecting the Jesus Christ. The new and significant change of poems in the mid. stage is that the sorrow is caused by the violences in the inside and outside of human beings. This change makes theme of his poems more broad and deep and strongly suggests the root of poet"s sorrow.
If the death is the inside violence of human beings, the outside one is others, groups, history, and ideology. These violences against individual"s will destroy a person and his liberty. No one can resist the death attached to human beings and overcome the violences from the outside of life. The poet, Kim Cun-soo only accept it passively or try to appease his sorrow. Consequently, the sorrow of beings in the poems is an emotional response of poet about limits of human beings.
In comparison with the early poems, the sorrow in the ones of the mid. stage is expressed very indirectly by substituting outside pathetic scenes for poet"s emotion and excluding of his subjectivity. And it imply a social characteristics beyond individuality. The poet"s cognition that the human beings is victims of various violences confirms it. The social characteristics of sorrow beyond individuality is a prominent feature and change that Kim Chun-soo"s poems in the mid. stage manifest.
