Objective: In this study, we measured the degree of fatigue at the various leg muscles standing in the state of barefoot on the mat with different ratio of hardness and elasticity, and tried to examine the ratio of hardness and elasticity for less fatigue mat. Background: Since human walk upright and live an upright life, various types of musculoskeletal disorders occur at the joint of hip, shoulder, ankle, and knee. For the tasks that require standing for a long-time in particular, symptoms of varicose veins and joint pain of low extremities and low back pains are frequent. Study of insole and mat production to reduce the fatigue of the body is progressed, and the mat is mainly used at the place to work standing for a long time like processing and assembly site at the factory, service industry, and kitchen in general. Methods: Nine mats with different ratio of hardness and elasticity and EMG were used to analyze the degree of fatigue at the various leg muscles standing in the state of barefoot on the mat. Total of 14 subjects (6 males and 8 females) participated for this study. Results: The EMG fatigue analysis at the Rectus Femoris, biceps Femoris, Tibialis Anterior, and Gastrocnemius Medialis were carried out and the perimeter of the shin and thigh before and after experiments were measured to examine the difference due to fatigue. Conclusion: From the results of this study, we hope that the available functionality mat for various workplaces such as service industry, home, and school as well as industrial sites will be developed to reduce the fatigue, improve work efficiency and to prevent the musculoskeletal disorders and varicose veins.
