In the USA and Europe peace history became widely recognized as part of peace studies and also accepted as a subfield of the discipline of history. The basic focus of the peace history has been historical analysis of peace movements and thoughts, and of peace??making efforts of various human groups and individuals in the past. The historians of this discipline believe that, through investigating the “peace in the history”, they could help strengthen political forces and cultural sources for a peaceful world in the future. In addition peace history has focused on issues as historical contexts and sociocultural dispositions which caused violent conflicts and destructive wars. Militarism and various peace ideas and efforts against Cold War can be also regarded as main themes of the historical peace studies.
Peace history is most effective in the examination of various aspects of promoting forces for or restraint factors against war and violence, as increase and decrease, back blow and reversal, inconsistence and paradox. Peace will be “given a chance” by the time that the historical approach and methode come into peace studies and discussion in the public sphere.
