This paper, taking the geneses of Korea and the North American Yuma/Maidu tribes, comparatively analyzes the roles of the genesis gods/animals in the geneses and their relations with their creatures. Usually, there is a tendency to pay attention to the genesis god’s roles in analyzing a genesis, but we can see that animals’ roles are set up somewhat importantly in addition to the genesis god. This can be said to be distinct from other types of myths. Thus, it is necessary to analyze geneses in terms of the relationship between genesis gods and animals, and to attempt at comparative analysis for acquiring universality of such analysis. The action of genesis appears in a single/cooperative/oppositional form. In the case of Korea, cooperation is found to be striking, while all the three forms are observed in the case of North America. In general, single genesis action concludes necessarily in positive creations, oppositional genesis action in negative creations, and cooperative genesis action in both positive and negative creations. Paying attention to this, we can tell that animals are assumed to be more colorful and have more importance in North American data than in Korean data. This tells us that they recognized that various creative forces in nature inhered in animals.
