The purpose of this study is to investigate the economic impact effect of Jeju marine tourism industry on the domestic economy of Korea. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, this study collects 839 questionnaires from Jeju marine tourists through four seasons. The collected data are analyzed by using input-output model.
The empirical results of this study are summarized as follows: First of all, this study shows that the average expenditure of a visitor was 408,950 Korean won. Next, when 519,562 marine tourists visit and spend 212.5 billion won during a year in Jeju, it leads to total production inducing effect of 413.3 billion won, total added value inducing effect of 202.9 billion won, and total employment inducing effect of 4,104 persons through Jeju regional economy and nation economy. Consequently, the result of this study shows that Jeju marine tourism industry considerably contributes to Korea national economy as well as Jeju regional economy.
