As China’s annual overseas investments exceed 70 billion dollars and China has come to the fore as the big player in the world’s major M&A market, China which has been called “the world’s factory” is now in the spotlight as the world’s major investor country. China’s large scale overseas investments are expected to continue for the present when China’s excess foreign exchange reserves exceeding 3.2 trillion dollars and the necessity to achieve the equilibrium of China’s macro economy including the stability of exchange rate of the yuan are considered.
China’s overseas direct investments are M&A-oriented investments mainly in advanced countries and greenfield-oriented investments mainly in least developed among developing countries, and with regard to M&A investments in advanced countries, there are both negative perspective of technology leakage and positive perspective of creating jobs and contributing to the vitalization of the regional economy.
Despite the fact that there are both positive and negative perspectives on the overseas expansion of Chinese capital, the influx of Chinese capital needs to be considered positively in that it can create a favorable environment for approach to the China market by the media of Chinese capital. Based on this perspective, the necessity and ways to induce Chinese capital from the viewpoint of Gyeonggi-do were presented in this assignment.
