In these days, super-tall buildings(STB) are significant in not only representing the city but also indicating the technology level of one country.
Although the rapid growth in IT has invigorated the supply of STBs, a definite resolution to a fire caused in STBs is not yet proposed or recommended.
To address this issue, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MLIT) has supported the development of “Research on the Fire Safety Technology of Super-tall Building” and we would like to present some fire safety technologies of world class level, which has been recently developed through this research.
1) Technology of permanent form having the fire resistance performance
- Active prevention of fire from propagation by using the thermal insulation of permanent form
- Hydration mechanism using the carbon reducing materials
2) Performance based smoke control system
- Vertical airflow analysis and smoke movement control on various conditions such as building height, vertical zoning
- Smoke control system for large volume space attached highrise building
- Development of omnidirectional smoke damper system to ensure the smoke control performance
3) Smoke management technology for fire floor
- Cost-effective & reliable smoke management system
- Floor-to-floor smoke control system
- Fire-refuge compartment technology of a restroom
4) Fire Risk Assessment for STB
- Fire scenarios to simulate the ignition and growth of fire, smoke movement, the evacuation of tenants, and fire-fighting.
- Quantitive fire risk evaluation
