The purpose of this study is to examine effects of dance therapy on the mental health of physically handicapped people. Thus the study attempts to help them accomplish active communication within human relations, social adaptation, rehabilitation and life quality improvement by having a positive influence on their mental health. For the study, seven subjects who are receiving the service of `J Weekly Protection Center` in Seoul were selected, and then the dance therapy was applied to them for 60 to 90 minutes a week, totally 23 tunes. The mental health condition of the subjects was measured using Symptom Checklist-90-Revision as the self-report list of multidimensional symptoms. The measurement was carried out in two ways pre-examination before the therapy and post-examination six months after the therapy. Data obtained from the measurement were processed using Paired t-test and their significance was tested at p$lt;.05. The result of the study is as follows. 1. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of somatization. 2. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of obsessive compulsion. 3. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of interpersonal sensttmtty. 4. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of depression. 5. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of anxiety. 6. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of Hostility. 7. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of phobic anxiety. 8. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of paranoid Ideation. 9. The dance therapy was found insignificant in the post-examination of Psychoticism.
