The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of aquatic activity program on social ability in children with autism. The participants were 20 children with autism. The 20 children were divided into two groups of 10(experimental group and control group). Aquatic activity program consisted of independent training, water exercise, swimming skill acquirement, water play, and stretching. For all participants, Social Maturity Test(Kim Seong Kuk, 1985) were tested. The collected data were analyzed by employing the paired samples t-test using SPSS-WIN 10.0 program. Also the interview with parents of participants was qualitatively analyzed. The results were as follows. 1. The aquatic activity program showed positive effects on social ability in children with autism(p< .05). 2. The aquatic activity program showed more significant increased in the 3 sub-factors of social ability.; locomotion, communication, and socialization(p< .05) 3. The aquatic activity program showed positive opinions through the qualitative analysis.; reduction of negative behavior characters, complying directions, improvement of reciprocal action, physical ability improvement, self-help
