The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks different exercise types on body compositions, skin thickness, blood lipids, leptin and inflammatory factors in middle-aged obese women. Middle-aged women with higher than 30% body fat were recruited and they were divided into three groups including circuit exercise (n=13), aerobic exercise (n=13), and resistance exercise (n=14). All subjects participated in the different type of exercise program (frequency=3 days/week, time=60minutes) during 12 weeks. In this study, there were significant differences on body weight, %fat, BMI within group, but no significant differences in the other exercise types. Following the different exercise program, skin thickness of triceps, thigh, illium sites and blood lipids improved after 12 exercise training. And there was a significant difference on triglyceride level between different exercise types. There was a decreased on leptin level after 12 week exercise training within group. There were significant differences on CRP and fibrinogen levels within group after 12 weeks exercise training. Above all, adiponectin level of circuit and aerobic exercise groups was strikingly improved than resistance exercise group. In conclusion, circuit and aerobic exercise were improved the body fat, skin thickness, blood lipids, leptin and inflammatory factors after 12 weeks exercise program. Furthermore, these exercise programs may decrease the risk of a complication in obese women.
