    Shipyards install millions of equipment, which are supplied by various equipment suppliers, onto ships and offshore plants. Equipment suppliers create detailed 3D CAD data in order to manufacture equipment, whereas shipyards don`t need to create detailed 3D CAD data because they aims at equipment installation. Hence, a system is required to automatically simplify 3D CAD data from equipment suppliers in accordance with shipyards` requirements. In this study, a quantitative evaluation metrics for simplification of 3D CAD assembly data of marine equipment is proposed. As simplification criteria, feature volume, assembly constraints, internal features, ports, and outer boundaries are considered. Then, a simplification system is implemented to verify effectiveness of proposed evaluation metrics throughout experiments.
