The memorial inscription of a migrant from Paekche named Chinb?pcha(陳法子) was revealed in 2012 and it confirmed that the T’aehak existed as a state educational institution. While there is no source to help us pin down precisely when the T’aehak was founded, it is probable that the institution was established during the reign of King K?nch’ogo (近肖古王) since the centralization of power and bureaucratization were completed and the project of history compilation based on the governing principles of Confucianism was carried out in this period, all of which created an environment in which a state educational institution could be established.
Moreover Paekche, from the reign of King Mury?ng(武寧王) to that of King S?ng(聖王), sent the Doctors of the Five Classics(五經博士) to Japan on a regular basis, which suggests that the T’aehak had already solidified its position as a state educational institution. Confucian studies and education in Paekche became more deepened and specialized after the establishment of the Doctors of the Five Classics during the reign of King Mury?ng.
In short, Paekche established the T’aehak during the reign of King K?nch’ogo(近肖古王) and had reformed it since then, which shows us that Paekche had been making an effort to produce and maintain professional personnel on a state level.
