The purpose of this paper is to refine micro－structure of the current Korean dictionaries.
The definition of verb entries in Korean dictionary is based on analyses of grammatical informations such as case frames and argument realization. I called suchlike micro structure on verb entries as ‘grammatical frame centered structure’. Grammatical frame centered structure takes root in Korean dictionary according to recent lexicography researches.
But it is not the case that there is not any problem in grammatical frame centered structure. If definitions of a verb entry are described according to over analysed grammatical informations such as aspects of various case and argument realization, there may occur two problems. First, there could make the difference between the conceptual intuition of native speaker and definitions of the entry. Second, the similarity among definitions may be passed over even if there are enough grammatical informations about case frame and argument realization.
Lexicographers should concentrate on the searching pattern of dictionary users. People search grammatical informations with a particular meaning. So, definitions of a entry must be harmonize to native speakers’ conceptual intuition to the entry. And grammatical informations such as case frames and argument restrictions are able to be given as subdivided list. I will call suchlike micro structure as ‘definition centered structure’, and suggest that structure as the improved micro structure of verb entries in Korean dictionary.
