Three Kingdom Period in Korean history is the period of turbulence. In the period, three kingdoms flexibly operate their kingdoms and apply rules. The cultural characteristic of the period is diversity which allows various religious thoughts and ideas to coexist.
Three kingdoms selected the traditional shamanism as state religion and also adopted Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism from China. The spirit to allow those religious thoughts and ideas to coexist with one another is called "Tolerance Spirit toward Three Religion" and it indicates religious diversity of the period.
Three kingdoms tried to reign over people by sanctifying and worshiping certain birds or trees. The is a kind of goods which represents aristocratic class´ dignity and the coffin was decorated with certain birds or trees which are regarded as sacred in Three Kingdom Period.
Three kingdoms established centralized states and enhanced the position of royal family by changing, king of a sovereign ruler, to great king. By using the title, great king, sovereign rulers of three kingdoms had the same authority of an Chinese emperor, so-called a son of Heaven. It indicates three kingdoms autonomously have outlooks on the world like Sinocentrism.
