This study has been aimed to investigate and analyze the actual leisure situations of activity, participation and preference trend of the adolesence in order to settle down the right leisure culture for the youth and to make the best use of it as the fundamental materials to be able to provide the youth with desirable leisure policy and facility and diverse program. The method of investigation and analysis has been by giving the questionnaire to 1,616 students of jr. and sr. high schools located in Seoul and the conclusion has been made by the results of the investigate and analysis. 1. Analysis of participation realities of leisure activities Idle talks and rest and speculation occupied the most parts of the leisure of the students of middle and high school rife while listening to music, watching TV, meaningless time spend and meeting friends appeared to be the leisure activities for them in their daily life. At weekend or holidays, most of them spent leisure in listening to music, watching TV, going to the movie, meaningless time spend and nap and especially the middle school students spend much more time for sports than the high school students. Generally there appeared very significant difference of (p＜.001) after the results of Chi-square when compaired middle school students with high school students. 2. Analysis of preference trends of leisure activities Sports activities have been preferred by middle and high school students in spending theirs leisure showing 451 high school students(48.00%) and 314 middle school students (46.60%), and 143 high school students (15.10%) for social service, intersexual acquaintance, coming in and out of the entertainment places, religious activities, and 76 milddle school students (11.10%) for going to the movie, sports, travel and study. We can say high school students spend the leisure for social intercours while middle school students for appreciation and tour or pleasuer-making. For nap, idel talks, speculation, meeting friends and meaningless time spend the middle and high school students spent leisure by the lowest rate of preference. In the comparison of the preference trends of leisure activities between the middle and high school students, there appeared very significant difference of (p＜.01) after the result of Chi-square test.
