This study was conducted with 472 male/female students of middle schools located in Gyeonggi-do in order to examine relationships between the types of leisure activities participated by juveniles and personal characteristics, self-realization and satisfaction with school lives. To test the problem in this study, correlation analyses and multiple regression analyses were used and the results as follows were obtained. First, differences in the types of leisure activities in relation to juveniles` personal characteristics were analyzed and the results indicated that the most frequent leisure activities of male students were play/entertainment activities and sport activities in the order of precedence while those of female students were hobby/culture activities and play/entertainment activities. By grade, play/entertainment activities were indicated to be the most frequent in all grades and in particular, it was indicated that students in grade 2 were doing play/entertainment activities more frequently compared to students in grade 1 or 3. Second, differences in self-realization and satisfaction with school lives in relation to juveniles` leisure activities were analyzed and the results indicated that the spontaneity factor of self-realization was higher in sport activities and hobby/culture activities than in play/entertainment activities and satisfaction with school lives was higher in sport activities and hobby/culture activities than in watching/appreciating activities and play/entertainment activities. Third, differences in self-realization and satisfaction with school lives in relation to the personal characteristics of juveniles were analyzed and the results indicated that self-realization and sensitivity factors were higher in female students than in male students but there was no difference between male/female students in other factors. In the case of differences between grades, it was indicated that the factor of sensitivity to self-realization was higher in students in grade 2 than in students in grade 1 or 3 and satisfaction with school lives was higher in students in grade 1 than in students in grade 3. And school records were indicated to be higher in students with high spontaneity than in students with medium spontaneity and higher in students with medium spontaneity than in students with low spontaneity, higher in students with high, medium high or medium humanity than in students with low humanity and higher in students with medium low satisfaction with school lives than in students with low satisfaction and higher in students with high satisfaction than instudents with medium low satisfaction.
