In response to that, maritime leisure sports may be considered as activities that are motivated inherently to help release many negative emotions and desires that people encounter in contemporary society. Therefore, this study is intended to investigate how the degree of participation of club members of maritime leisure sports(period, frequency, degree) influences the wellness index(physical health, mental healthy, social health, intellectual health, emotional health). In this study, members of maritime sports club in Busan city and Gyeongnam were selected as population, and 300 people were selected as the subject of this study by using purposeful sampling which is one of the non-probability sampling, were analyzed through computer program using SPSS/Win 17.0. The findings of this study indicated the followings: First, the period of participation, which is the sub-variables associated with the degree of participation, had a significant effect on all sub-variables of wellness index(physical health, social health, mental health, intellectual health, emotional health), and the effect was the highest in the group that participated for more than 8 years. Second, the frequency of participation, which is the sub-variable pertinent to the degree of participation, had a positive effect on all sub-variables of wellness index(physical health, social health, mental health, intellectual health, emotional health), and the effect was the highest in the group that participated for more than once a week. Third, the intensity of participation, which is the sub-variable relating to the degree of participation, had a positive effect on all sub-variables of wellness index(physical health, social health, mental health, intellectual health, emotional health), and the effect was the highest in the group that participated for more than 3 hours.
