The aim of this study was to assess the effect of the MBT shoes on lower extremity joints dynamics during walking. 10 healthy male subjects(age: 23.5±2.3 yr, height: 177.6±3.7 cm, weight: 72.9±7.3 kg) were recruited. The velocity of gait was set by 1.34m/s and 1.7m/s. The data were collected by using VICON with 8 cameras to analyze kinematic variables with 200Hz and force platform to analyze kinetic variables with 2000Hz during the gait. The results were as follows. First, the ROM and the change in the ankle joint was decreased with MBT shoes. Second, the change of ankle plantar flexion moment was decreased but ankle stiffness was increased in MBT shoes compared to the control. Third, the peak ankle absorption power was decreased but peak hip absorption power was increased with MBT shoes when walking. In conclusion, a reduction in the ROM of ankle joint after wearing MBT shoes appeared but this change might affect on the knee and hip joints kinetics.
