The purpose of this research is to compare and analyze the soma to type and the body compositions of high school athletes by sport event for providing the basic dat a on discovering outstanding athletes and the improvement of athletic performance. The subjects of the research were the athletes(n=82) who were participating in the exercise clubs of high school(track and field(n=11), rower(n=8), judo(n=7), tae-kwondo( n=13), swimming(n=11), boxing(n=12), weight-lifting(n=6) and soccer(n=14). As the result of research, the body types were shown as track and field, tae-kwon-do(eumorphic type), swimming, boxing, soccer(ectodermal type, eumorphic type), rower, judo, and weight lifting(ectodermal type, eumorphic type). As for the 13 body-type distribution, it was shown in the order of eumorphic type(E,F,G,H: 43, 52.44%), fol -lowed by endoderm-type(A,B,C,D: 33, 40.24%), and ectodermal type(I,K,L,M: 6, 7.43%). In the correlation, it was for weight and amount of body fat(r =0.904), for the 1st element and the rate of body fa(r =0.983)t, for the 3rd element and body density(r=0.809), and for the rate of body fat and the amount of body fat, all for the positive correlation(r=0.967), and for the 1st element and the body density(r =-0.984), for the body density(r=-0.965) and the amount of body fat, for negative correlation, and the level of significance was found out to be for each(p<.001). In conclusion, although there are various types depending on the sport, as for the body type, the ``eumorphic type`` is outstanding, and as for the body composition, although it may be helpful as the amount of body fat decreases, there are some exceptions according to the sport event. And therefore, the body type and the body composition that are suitable for each of the sport event can become strong elements for becoming an outstanding player in the future.
