The purpose of this study was to make a narrative inquiry intoth e teaching experience of early childhood physical education instructors. The subjects in this study wer ethree selected early childhood physical education instructors with 15 years or more of early childhood phycsail education. They were interviewed in depth by using semi-structured questionnaires. As a result, their experience was categorized into four different stages: beginning, crisis and overcoming, growth and maturity. First, they became physical education instructors by chance without being well ready for that, but they were soon aleb to serve as well-prepared instructors after they gained various experience. Second, there were a wide variety of internal and external barriers to their career, but the barriers rather served as a catalyst in their grwoth. Third, they became skilled instructors thanks to their long teaching expereince. Fourth, they became mature enough to look at early childohod sports with a critical eye and suggest an alternative. Given their teachin gexperience, it could be said that the early childhood physical education instructors grew into good instructors in harsh surroundings owing to their enthusiasm, reflective attitude, self- evaluation and efforts to improve their own teaching. The teaching experience of an instructor is not a mere personal matter but an important and valuable educational material that gives a big picture of his or her life as an instructor, and that should be reflected in instructor training courses.
