The debates of ‘invention of tradition`` in anthropology and folkloristics have been discussed centered on keywords such asnationalism, cultural identity and folklorism. Anthropology is also in the ‘crisis of representation`` and it developed the discourse as aninter- pretation of the identity. Additionally, it confirmed that anthropology has the inseparable relationship with the cultural politicsin the process of the debate. At the same time, folklorists raised the politics of folkloristics on the basic interpretation of tradition redefined by anthropologists. In the process of dicussion, thefolklorism has been embraced and interacted with the discourse of‘invention of tradition`` since 1990`s. The discourse of ‘the invention of tradition`` also provided the theoretical basis to reconsider the nationalism in Korea. It contributed to the spread of the study how we can interprete the policies of authoritative regimes in 1960-1970``s. Just as in the West, however, its ‘discursive authority`` also appeared in Korea. Now, we have tolay down the position as the dominant discourse and reconsider the new roles and definitions in global environments.
