This study examined the effect of green tea fruit peel extract (PE) against angiogenesis and obesity. We found that PE significantly inhibited the tubular formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) with molecular based analysis. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), epigallocatechin (EGC) and saponin were the functional components present in PE that contributed to significant anti-angiogenesis effect. Green tea fruit peel extract (PE) inhibits angiogenesis. Effect of PE and peel saponin on endothelial tubular structure formation. HUVECs (2.5 · 104 cells per well) were plated on Matrigel pre-coated 24-well plates and treated with varying concentration of samples for 4 h. The network of tubular structure formation was quantified by measuring the length of tubular network in five photomicrograph randomly obtained from each well.
