Certain viruses have been shown to parasitize tumors and cause necrosis of the tumors. It has also been demonstrated that virus III causes suppression or early regression of the rabbit fibroma. The present paper describes the results of a study on the oncolytic action of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) against the rabbit fibroma caused by virus. 1. JEV exerted some influences on the fibroma formation of rabbit and showed remarkable oncolytic action. In the control group the fibroma took a course for four to five weeks but was cured after only two weeks in the inoculated one with JEV. 2 In the case where inoculated JEV intramuscularly in day 0 after inoculation with fibroma virus the oncolytic action appeared severer than in the case of day 3 or day 5. And there was no effect in the case injected with heat inactivated JEV. 3. In the case injecting the JEV intravenously or intracutaneously there was also same effect as in the intramuscular injection. It could also confirm that once recovered from rabbit fibroma there was no production of it due to the aquirement of immunity though reinjected the fibroma virus. 4. The experimental group which inoculated a plenty of JEV to the fibroma mass directly showed the rapid recovery as compared with the non-inoculated one. And in the case injecting intramus cularly the JEV in the period of 24 hours after inoculation of fibroma virus it was capable of the detection of plentiful JEV from fibroma mass even in the course of day 10.
