Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, as a part of a large international war, had such a great ripple effect that it brought various changes in all areas of society and politics of the East Asian region. Factors that contributed to overcoming the war were the activities of Joseon"s naval forces and a righteous army, leadership of the generals and admirals and others. Above all, activities of the righteous army were highly regarded and recognized as a major factor of overcoming the war even today. In regard to riposte of left Gyeongsang province at the beginning of the war, prior studies dealt with it superficially, the government Troops nearly collapsed and righteous army took the initiative. However, taking a closer look at the inside facts, we find out that despite collapse of a line of command due to Japanese large invasion, not a few of the government commanders of left Gyeongsang province defended the forts in their assigned area. Also, in areas which local government officers left, in place of them, scholar groups or former officers in the region raised up forces by gathering scattered soldiers and fought against the Japanese, taking their own military actions.
Afterward, as Commander Park jin of left Gyeongsang province troops took Andongjin as a military base, Joseon army of left Gyeongsang province began to establish a line of military command in earnest and rebuilt a military force. It was possible because there were activities of Gwon eung-su, who commanded the government Troops and righteous army in Gyeongju and Daegu, repulsing the Japanese army and intercepting its attack. As a result, Joseon army of left Gyeongsang province"s fighting aspect changed from defense of local military base into an overall and an organized counterattack like recapturing a town fort and conducting surprises attack on the Japanese troops. In addition, Yeongcheon fort and Gyeongju fort, which were in strategic locations, were recaptured and the situation of the war turned in favor of the Joseon.
