To determine whether individual, family, and neighborhood factors affect depressive symptom among older adults. Data from 2,854 older residents in city of Busan aged 65 years old and over in the 2012 Community Health Survey were analyzed as individual level data. Local governments’ administrative statistics were used as neighborhood level data(N=16). Hierarchical linear model(HLM) were used for the analysis. and this study found 6.3% of the log odds ratio of depressive symptoms. Among individual factors, age, poverty, subjective health were significant on depressive symptoms. Among family factors, spouse had a an significance on the likelihood of having depressive symptoms but family type was not significant for the sample. Neighborhood’s poverty and local governments’ elderly welfare budget were significant impact on depressive symptoms. Age, poverty, subjective health, spouse, neighborhood’s poverty and elderly welfare budgets have effects on depressive symptoms among older adults. Therefore, there are needs to consider in total of individual, family, neighborhoods factors in any efforts to facilitate intervention of depression among community dewelling older adults.
